Absentee Voting

Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on election day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S. citizen, who will be 18 years of age or older on election day, who has resided in the ward of the municipality where he or she wishes to vote for at least 28 consecutive days before the election. The elector must also be registered in the Village of Cambridge in order to receive an absentee ballot. If you are not sure that you are registered, you can e-mail us or call (608) 423-3712.

Requesting an Absentee Ballot

Applications for Absentee Ballot can be downloaded and are also available in the Village Clerk's Office. An application or other written request must be submitted to the Clerk's Office before an Absentee Ballot can be issued by mailed to :

You can also personally go to the Clerk's Office and vote an absentee ballot during the hours specified for casting an absentee ballot.

Voter Photo ID

Voter Photo ID is required in most absentee voting circumstances. Please visit the Voter Photo ID page for more information.

Special Absentee Provisions

Special absentee voting application provisions apply to electors who are indefinitely confined to home or a care facility, in the military, hospitalized, overseas, or serving as a sequestered juror. If this applies to you, contact the Village Clerk.

Absentee Ballot Deadlines

  • The deadline for making application to vote absentee by mail is 5 p.m. on the 5th day before the election.
  • The deadline for voting an absentee ballot in the Clerk's Office is 5 p.m. on the Friday before the election.
  • The Municipal Clerk will deliver voted ballots returned on or before election day to the proper polling place before the polls close on election day. Any ballots received after the polls close will not be counted.
